Animate

Are you familiar with stop motion animation? It’s the technique of moving an object in small increments between individually photographed frames to create the illusion of movement on the screen. Two Walt Disney Pictures films have been made in this style: James and the Giant Peach and our holiday favorite, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
In Animate, participants have the freedom to push their creative thinking, collaborate and share their innovative ideas, and express themselves by creating an original story. Teams begin by creating a storyboard set that identifies the characters, timing, and the final desired outcome of their film. The teams then, in their animation studio, take the objects of their animation and digitally record them moving through a serious of small sequential steps to create a film.
Cheers, laughter, and rounds of applause greet the filmmakers at the premiere of the films, and the winners walk away with awards.
